Last Saturday was our anime afternoon, and with 21 people turning up, it was our most widely attended anime event ever! We kicked off with Ouran High School Host Club, but Bleach was the most popular choice, with three people choosing to watch episodes of soul-reaping action. We also saw two episodes of Red Garden, Seymour's newest anime title.
Thanks to all who showed up, and to those who brought their own anime and treats to share!

Movie lineup changes...new Anime!
The Fox movie has had to move back to May to make room for the Chipmunk sequel! The original Alvin and the Chipmunks movie was the library's record-setting movie night of all time, with 70 people in attendance!
We have ordered the full series of Pumpkin Scissors on DVD, for those of you who have not had the chance to see the entire series yet! (Part of it is in the system already.) We have also ordered Gakuen Alice, a highly-rated comedy from Rightstuf/Nozomi. (Subtitled only.)
With a little luck, at our next Anime Afternoon, I will try my hand at making Taiyaki, the fish-shaped, filled waffles that have appeared in so many anime series.

Anime Afternoon scheduled...
In the mad scramble for meeting room time (it's occupied almost every Saturday in April) Anime Afternoon has been bumped back to May 1st! Since I have not yet started any permission requests or ordered any new anime series, this gives me a little breathing room.
One problem with ordering new series is that many companies have stopped adding English dubs to their anime DVDs. They need to cut expenses to stay competetive, and also they feel the need to get the new programs out on DVD as quickly as possible, before the fans who have watched online versions lose interest in the title.
Still, no problem filling Friday movie slots for April! As always, Spring comes with a bevy of new releases, including such films as Ponyo, The Frog Princess, Fantastic Mister Fox, Planet 51, Astro Boy, etc.

Post-Holiday movie stuff!
Whew, the holiday shuffle is over, as is the end-of-year budget crunch, so we're back on schedule for Friday movies and new additions!
Hitting the DVD shelves soon:
Eerie, Indiana--a children's series where mysterious and horrifying things happen in a small Indiana town.
The Scarlet Pimpernel--The 1980's Jane Seymour made-for-TV version: everyone knows this is my favorite! (Though they should have restored it a little.)
My Family and Other Animals--the Masterpiece Theater performance of zoologist Gerald Durrell's hilarious childhood memoir.
Millionaire Dogs--an animated cartoon made in Germany. Haven't watched it yet, so I can't tell you more than that. If it's good, I'll add it to the Friday lineup.
Plus the usual new releases and hot items!
Next Anime Afternoon: nothing firm is planned yet, but we nearly always have one in April, when the danger of blizzards is past, so start planning on a Spring event again.

Rearranging the schedule...
Well, after watching Up, it is a great movie, but not the toddler-pleaser we need for the Shop N Drop days, so we are doing a quick rearrangement of our December movie schedule. See you all then!

Trioscopic 3D
The recent wave of 3D movies all use the new green and magenta Trioscopic 3D glasses. Recently, someone failed to return our glasses from Journey to the Center of the Earth, and the library checking it in failed to notice. Replacements have to be ordered in bundles of 50.
The good news in this is--we now have enough 3D glasses to have a 3D movie night!
We will be showing a 3D short with the upcoming Monsters and Aliens movie night, but an entire movie would be cooler still.
What do you think? Journey to the Center of the Earth? Coraline? My Bloody Valentine? Some other 3D film I don't know about yet? Let me know what you want to see!

Anime Halloween: License to Cosplay
I've been hoping to make our next Anime Afternoon some time in October, and this year Halloween is on a Saturday, so--Anime Halloween!
As an added incentive, anyone dressing up as an anime character (or, heck--anything else cool) will get a special bonus! Not sure yet what that will be, considering we already have door prizes and free food, but I'm thinking, and will be glad to consider suggestions.
We will have a really special door prize this session, as well--a Hellsing Ultimate messenger bag, provided by Rightstuf.com. It's so nice I almost decided to keep it myself!
More announcements later.
