Movie schedule change

We have decided to save Kubo and the Two Strings for a summer event, to include origami-folding! The BFG will be shown in February in its place...now that we actually have the disc!

Spirited Away, 15 years old!

I was very excited when I received an e-mail saying that Spirited Away was going to be appearing in movie theaters to celebrate its 15-year anniversary! But then I clicked the link to buy tickets, and the nearest theater was near Chicago.

But we have our own theater! So, for those of you who love the story of Chihiro (and those who have never seen it yet) we will have a special showing here at the library on Monday, December 5th, at 7 pm. Hope to see you there!

Due to a delay in the expected release date, we will not be able to show The BFG on September 23 as originally scheduled. Sorry! The BFG will be shown on November 11.

Summer is winding down!

It's been a great Summer Reading Program, and fall seems to be racing toward us....and Fall means it's almost time for Anime Halloween! Hope to see you there!

Have to leave the TV on for the dog these days, and it's resulted in my discovering some fun stuff on PBS. We have added a couple of Odd Squad DVDs to the children's section, and Stephen Hawking's Genius.

By the way, when I was at Kitsune Kon this year, we played a group game of the visual novel, Long Live the Queen. I'd love to do something like that for the library, but with a title more geared to younger children. (Not all that complicated mood calculation and class scheduling!) Anyone have a good suggestion?

FIIIIIIRE MONKEYS!!!!!

Starting February 8th, this will be the Year of the Fire Monkey--doesn't that sound exciting? :D

Sad to say goodbye to two awesome legends this month, David Bowie (Labyrinth, Zoolander) and Alan Rickman (Harry Potter, Galaxy Quest, Die Hard.)

With a new year, as always, comes a new budget! So far we have replaced several damaged and broken items from last year and caught up on some new releases. Do you have suggestions for what you would like us to add this year? Or movies you would like us to screen on Friday Night Movie nights? (Please don't suggest old Disney classics...everybody loves them, but nobody shows up to watch them here.)

New anime this year: readers of the Library Wars manga will be excited to know we will soon be adding the anime series! (Called Library War. They lost the 's' somewhere.) If it's listed in the catalog, it will be added to the shelves later this week (as soon as I finish watching it, ha ha, ha....) I will also soon be ordering Shangri-La, the series that was such a hit at the last Anime Halloween.

Anime Halloween!

Hmmm, it seems I only post about anime around here. :D

Well, Anime Halloween will be on actual Halloween, for the first time in years! Come all dressed up in costume for a free Seroogy bar!

Despite my worry that I had added too much anime to the collection this year, a great sale on Amazon resulted in my buying two more titles. Girls und Panzer, the story of high school girls whose after school hobby is tank fighting! And the re-release of the ever popular GHOST STORIES! That's right, you'll be able to check it out again. We have also added Soul Eater NOT, the moe-girls Soul-Eater spin-off.

For next year, I have my eye on Season 2 of Free and the re-release of Noein.

Hope to see you there! Keep watching!
