Anime Halloween was great!

Just want to say that our annual Anime Halloween was fantastic, with over 43 people attending, lots of great shows chosen, and tons of fun! Special thanks to those of you who brought treats and helped with the cleanup, and a big thanks to everybody who came, for helping to make our anime events ever more awesome!

Anime n Stuff!

This Friday is our second outdoor movie night, hope you can make it! The Friday Night Movie lineup is almost set through October. Included is a screening of the documentary, Green Fire.

And of course, Anime Halloween is coming up fast! Preparations and permission requests are under way.

We have added lots of exciting anime titles to the shelves this year:

Soul Eater: The hugely popular shonen anime about kids learning to fight at a school run by the Grim Reaper himself.

Steins: Gate: A time-traveling tale of suspense and conspiracy.

Sound of the Sky: A sweet post-apocalyptic tale of a girl who joins the army to learn to play the bugle.

Clannad: The classic school life anime.

Persona 4: a video-game based title about kids traveling into a strange techy world to battle their alternate selves

Canaan: An action thriller about the results of a secret medical experiment gone wrong.

My Bride is a Mermaid: Slapstick comedy about a boy who is rescued by a mermaid, and must marry her, against the wishes of her mobster family.

Squid Girl: A cute comedy about a squid who comes ashore to take over the world and teach humanity to respect the ocean.

Genshiken: We have replaced our Season 1 with a box set containing both seasons and the OVAs.

Black Cat: A classic donated by a patron. I haven't watched it, so I can't talk about it. :D

Anime fans will also want to have a look at Appleton's exciting new acquisitions, Angel Beats and Un-Go.

Summer is coming!

Summer is coming! That means summer hours, the summer reading program, and the ever popular OUTDOOR movie nights! (They have not yet been scheduled, we will let you know when. I can tell you, though, that we will be showing the new Oz movie and an older favorite about boys who dig holes...) Summer also means there are less new releases to choose from for the Friday Movie nights, so feel free to make suggestions. This July we are pleased to present our very first SING-ALONG movie night on July 12th! Bring your Munchkins and beware of falling houses! Woohoo!

Movie lineup change

Just a heads-up to let you know we have shuffled some of our movie showing dates around! With so many spooky, Halloweeny movies being released on video, we wanted to break them up a little so they weren't all being shown one after the other.
